Government Museum
The Government Museum in Bangalore was established in 1865 with the aid of Mysore State under the supervision of Surgeon Edward Balfour, who founded the museum in Madras. It is widely known to be one of the oldest museums in the country, and the Government Museum is a remarkable treasury of archaeological items like pottery, paintings, coins and inscriptions. The main attractions of the Government Museum include Terracotta artefacts from Mathura (birthplace of Lord Krishna), 600 paintings under Venkatappa Art Gallery, Sculptures from the Hoysala, Nolamba and Gandhara periods, a Scale model of Tipu Sultan’s Fort, Srirangapatna etc.

HMT Heritage Centre and Watch Museum
The HMT Heritage Centre and Watch Museum was established to commemorate the legacy of Hindustan Machine Tools Limited (HMT), the country’s first machine manufacturing company, set up by the Indian government in the late 1900s. The idea of setting up the museum was executed after the closure of HMT’s watch factory and other ancillary units. The HMT Heritage Centre and Watch Museum has been spread over two floors, where the ground floor displays the history of watchmaking, while the first floor beholds the history of machine tools and equipment.

Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore (VITM), is a part of the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, which was established in memory of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The building covers an area of 4000 sq. metres, that has been constructed in the calming and extraordinary surroundings of Cubbon Park, housing various industrial products and engines, which was opened by the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. What is unique about VITM is that it has a Mobile Science Exhibition with 24 participatory exhibits mounted on a bus making it stand out.

Kempegowda Museum
Located on the first floor of Mayo Hall, Kempegowda Museum is dedicated to Yelahanka Chieftain Kempegowda (1513- 1569), who is thought to have been the founder of the city of Bangalore. An interesting feature of the museum is its glassed floor, which has an imprint of an 18th-century map running all across it. Visitors can walk over it, and see and learn the old names of places, including the four towers that Kempegowda built to mark the limits of Bangalore. There is an imposing fibreglass statue of Kempegowda in the middle of the gallery which makes it stand out and is worth admiring.
